Stoneridge Orchards Chili Lime Cherries with Tajín: The Real Story

How It All Started

When Stoneridge Orchards started testing for new products and flavor combinations, we noticed that many of our workers would sprinkle Tajín seasoning on product samples that were distributed throughout the warehouse. Light bulb! We knew we wanted our next product to have a sweet and savory combination, so we took our team’s favorite seasoning and mixed it with our dried fruit.  After testing several options, we found a winner with our Montmorency Cherries. This was the beginning of the popular snack we know now as our dried tart Chili Lime Cherries with Tajín.

What is Tajín?

If you aren’t familiar with Tajín, you should know that they are the #1 fruit and vegetable seasoning in Mexico and the United States. They have a remarkably strong brand and a loyal following, with over 2 million likes on Facebook and interactive feeds. Tajín is extremely versatile and can be used on anything from fresh produce, to popcorn, to seafood, which makes it a natural fit for Stoneridge Orchard’s Chili Lime Cherries.

Family Matters

Both Stoneridge Orchards and Tajín seasonings are businesses with strong family traditions. Stoneridge Orchards was started in the 1960’s by the Dorsing family in central Washington. The 3rd generation of the family now holds key management positions and has helped the company grow from its humble beginnings to being one of the leading providers of dried fruits in North America. Tajín was started in the mid 1980’s by the Fernandez family in Guadalajara, Mexico. They have watched the company grow from a locally produced fruit seasoning in Mexico to a product which is now distributed globally, including parts of Asia, Europe, South America and of course North America.

Best Sweet Snack Runner-Up

Stoneridge Orchards and Tajín are both excited about the great flavor profile of their Chili Lime Cherries. Consumers love the product, and at the 2014 Fancy Food Show in San Francisco it was awarded the Best Sweet Snack Runner-Up. “Taking a cue from Mexican frutas con chile y limón, Stoneridge Orchards Chili Lime Cherries coat extra-juicy dried tart cherries in a zesty combo of chili, lime, and sea salt.”

After the show, Gourmet News Magazine reported “These Chili Lime Cherries are an exhilarating, perfectly-balanced, slightly zesty and slightly sweet snack experience.”

When you are trying to satisfy your urge for a great sweet and savory eating experience, go for the Stoneridge Orchards Chili Lime Cherries with Tajín. A tasty snack with a good story made by families that care.
